Staff Nurse
General Responsibilities
- Maintain professional and ethical standards and set a high standard of resident care
- Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership and support to care staff
- Adhere to NMBI guidelines on the administration of medical preparations and the ‘Misuse of Drugs Act’
- Adhere to NMBI Code of Professional Conduct and Scope of Practice for each nurse and midwife
- Work as part of a team having regard to the individual team members and an appreciation of their contribution to the team effort
- Maintain excellent working relationships with staff at all levels within Haven Bay
- Deliver Induction training to new nursing and care staff
- Participate in staff development and induction programmes for trained and untrained staff
- Adopt a supportive and mentoring role for all new staff nurses and Health Care Assistants
Professional/Clinical
- Act as a ‘Resource Nurse’ for an identified area of resident care as required
- Encourage recognition of the resident as an individual, ensuring that their needs and comforts are given priority
- Ensure that each resident has individualised assessments based on their specific needs, that each resident has a person centred care plan implemented, evaluated and modified as their care needs change
- Ensure all nursing care is individualised and holistic to meet resident’s needs
- Develop and promote good relationships with residents and their families communicating effectively with them and ensuring that they are informed of any changes as appropriate
- Be responsible for recording and maintaining accurate documentation in line with care centre standards
